How to Calculate GPA and CGPA
CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average, while GPA stands for Grade Point Average. GPA usually measures performance for one semester or study period, while CGPA combines results across multiple semesters. A credit-weighted calculation gives subjects with more credits a proportionally larger effect on the result.
Enter every subject's credit value and grade point exactly as they appear in your institution's grading system. The calculator multiplies credits by grade points, totals the resulting quality points, and divides by the total credits.
If your transcript shows letter grades, use the 10-point letter-grade mode to select A+, A, B, C, or D. The included mapping assigns 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 points respectively. Credits determine how much each subject contributes; they do not change the letter grade's point value.
GPA and CGPA Formulas
Semester GPA
GPA = Sum of (subject credits × grade point) ÷ total semester credits.
Cumulative CGPA
CGPA = Total quality points from all semesters ÷ total credits from all semesters.
Example
A four-credit subject with grade point 9 contributes 36 quality points. A three-credit subject with grade point 8 contributes 24. Together, the GPA is (36 + 24) ÷ (4 + 3) = 8.57.

- Use registered or earned credits according to your official academic policy.
- Check how repeated, failed, withdrawn, audit, and pass/fail subjects are treated.

A 10-point CGPA does not automatically equal CGPA × 10 or CGPA × 9.5. Different universities and boards publish different formulas, and some do not provide a direct conversion. Use your official academic regulations whenever the percentage is needed for admissions, employment, scholarships, or formal documents.
