How to Analyze Word and Phrase Frequency
Paste a complete draft, choose single words, two-word phrases, or three-word phrases, and then adjust the filters for the question you are asking. The table ranks every remaining term by occurrence count and shows density against the complete word count—not just the filtered list.
1. Add the full draft
A complete page gives more meaningful repetition and vocabulary signals.
2. Choose the unit
Review words first, then phrases to see recurring topics and wording patterns.
3. Filter with intent
Remove common English words for topics, or keep them for exact phrase analysis.
How Keyword Density Is Calculated
For a single word, density is occurrences ÷ total words × 100. A phrase occupies more than one word position, so this tool calculates phrase density as occurrences × words in phrase ÷ total words × 100. For example, a two-word phrase appearing five times in a 500-word draft has a density of 2%.
CSV exports also include occurrence share, which divides matches by the number of available term windows. Density and occurrence share answer related but different questions, so the export labels them separately.
Keyword Density and SEO
There is no universal keyword-density percentage that guarantees rankings. Density is most useful as an editorial diagnostic: it can reveal accidental repetition, inconsistent terminology, or a draft that barely mentions its stated subject. A strong page still depends on helpful coverage, search intent, factual accuracy, structure, originality, and a natural reading experience.
Treat the tool's repetition signal as a prompt to review the passage—not as an instruction to remove or add a term automatically. Product names, people, locations, and technical vocabulary may repeat for legitimate reasons.

Using Stop Words, Exclusions, and Minimum Length
- English stop words
Hide common function words to surface topical vocabulary. Turn this off for exact phrases or non-English content.
- Minimum length
Ignore short tokens such as one-letter variables or abbreviations when they are not useful to the review.
- Custom exclusions
Remove brand names, author names, navigation labels, or any terms you expect to repeat.
- Numbers
Include years, quantities, model numbers, and other numeric tokens only when they matter to the analysis.
Private, Browser-Based Text Analysis
Counting, filtering, searching, copying, and CSV creation run locally in the browser. The tool does not need to upload the draft to calculate its results. Word boundaries use the browser's Unicode-aware segmentation when available, which supports many writing systems, while the optional stop-word list remains English-specific.
