How to Clean Text and Remove Duplicate Lines
Paste text or open a plain-text file, select only the cleanup rules you need, and review the live result. The original stays in its own editor so you can compare the two versions before copying or downloading anything.
1. Add the source
Paste a list, notes, exported data, or open a TXT, CSV, Markdown, or log file.
2. Choose the rules
Control trimming, duplicate matching, internal whitespace, and blank lines independently.
3. Review and export
Check the removal counts, then copy the result or download a UTF-8 TXT file.
Exact and Case-Insensitive Duplicate Matching
Exact matching keeps differences in capitalization. With case-insensitive matching enabled, lines such as Invoice ready and INVOICE READY are considered the same. In either mode, the first occurrence stays in place and only later matches are removed.
Trimming and whitespace cleanup happen before comparison. That means two lines that differ only by surrounding spaces can match when trimming is enabled. Turn off any rule that could change meaningful formatting.
What Each Text Cleaning Rule Changes
- Trim each line
Removes spaces and tabs only from the beginning and end of every line.
- Collapse spaces and tabs
Changes each horizontal whitespace run to one space while preserving line breaks.
- Blank-line control
Keeps every blank line, collapses repeated blank lines, or removes all blank lines.
- Trim outer blank lines
Removes empty lines from the start and end without deleting internal paragraph breaks.
Useful Ways to Use the Text Cleaner
The duplicate line remover can tidy copied spreadsheet values, mailing lists, keyword exports, inventory labels, survey answers, logs, references, and notes. Blank-line controls are useful for prose copied from PDFs or documents, while exact matching is safer for identifiers whose capitalization matters.
Avoid collapsing whitespace in programming code, tables, ASCII layouts, or any text where indentation carries meaning. The tool exposes each option so you can clean ordinary text without applying hidden transformations.
Private, Browser-Based Text Cleanup
Cleaning, matching, copying, and file creation happen locally in the browser. The page does not need to send the text to a server to calculate the result. Files opened with the tool are read in the browser and are not uploaded for processing.
