What Is an Audio Volume Booster?
An audio volume booster creates a new file with increased signal level. Linear gain multiplies waveform amplitude uniformly, while normalization and compression can change how quieter and louder sections relate to each other. This is different from increasing only the playback volume on your phone, browser, or speakers.
This tool processes the complete file with FFmpeg WebAssembly in your browser. The live Web Audio preview is closest for Linear mode and approximates the dynamic modes. After export, the processed-output player lets you verify the exact result before downloading.
How to Boost Audio Volume
Choose an audio file
Drop an MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, FLAC, Opus, WebM, MP4, or MOV file. Smaller files receive a waveform and sampled peak and RMS estimates.
Choose a boost mode
Linear gain for simple loudness, Smart Boost for uneven recordings, or Compress & Boost for dynamic material like music and podcasts.
Start with modest gain
Try +3 dB or +6 dB first. Preview at a comfortable device volume and increase only when the recording still needs it.
Control peaks
Keep the limiter enabled when the linear peak estimate approaches 0 dBFS. Strong limiting can still change transients and dynamics.
Process and verify
Choose MP3, WAV, OGG, or M4A, process locally, then listen to the exact processed output before downloading it.
Gain, Normalization, and Compression
Decibels use a logarithmic scale. About +6.02 dB doubles waveform amplitude, while +20 dB multiplies it by ten. That does not translate into a fixed perceived-loudness multiplier for every recording. Source dynamics, frequency balance, listening level, and playback equipment all affect what you hear.

Browser File Limits and Large Audio
Browser audio decoding expands compressed files into uncompressed samples, which can use far more memory than the file size suggests. For stability, uploads are limited to 80 MB on mobile and 200 MB on desktop. Live preview and sampled estimates are limited to 25 MB or 15 minutes on mobile, and 50 MB or 30 minutes on desktop. Larger accepted files skip browser decoding but can still be processed by FFmpeg.
WAV output is uncompressed and may be much larger than the source. MP3 and M4A offer broad compatibility with smaller files, while OGG is an open format supported by many modern applications.
